Kouja is a 7 year old Papillon mix, coming to us from a shelter. He is a sweet, boy with lots of love to give!

This happy boy has been thriving in his foster home with kids and adults alike. He’s got a playful spirit and loves going for walks, chasing his ball, and playing with his beloved moose stuffy. When it’s time to wind down, Kouja is just as content cuddling on the couch, on your lap, or tucking himself into cozy little hideouts (his favourite is the nook between the couch and the wall!).

We’re still learning about Kouja’s comfort level with other dogs. When he first arrived, he was recovering from kennel cough and had to stay separated. He initially showed lots of excitement and barking when seeing other dogs, but now that he’s healthy, we have started with slow introductions and he seems to be doing well with continued guidance.

​

Kouja can also get quite amped up on meeting visitors. He’s greeted visiting family members with tail wags and even curled up beside them on the couch. That said, he’s had a couple of moments where he was unsure of unfamiliar guests and barked persistently at a visitor before gradually settling down with the help of his crate and familiar people. With patience and a calm environment, he settles down quickly and returns to his sweet, snuggly self.

Kouja is a cuddle bug who adores being pet and will happily roll over for tummy rubs. He’s got a joyful energy that makes him a wonderful companion. Kouja is housetrained and crate trained. He would be great in a home with children, although he has not been tested with cats. Kouja is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and ready to find his forever home!
